Abstract
We have described a new protocol for the utilization of hydroflorocarbons and hydrochlorocarbons through phenyl radical offered by UVC light irradiation. Hydrofloroalkylation and hydrochloroalkylation of methyl arenes are achieved with very high atomic utilization and cheap raw materials. This new methodology is likely to find use in both academia and industry.
