Development of new carbene transfer and C-X bond forming reactions

Abstract

This PhD thesis focuses on the development of new C-C or C-X (X = O, N, Si etc.) bond formation reactions, involving diverse new carbene transfer reactions that originate from photolysis, transition metal catalysis and an additional Lewis acid catalysis. More precisely, photoinduced cyclopropenation reactions and fluoro-amino etherification reactions are demonstrated, in which unique reactivities and chemoselectivities are observed. Furthermore, photoinduced Si-H insertion reactions and O-H functionalization reactions are explored under mild conditions as well. Moreover, boron-catalyzed carbazolation reactions of aryldiazoacetates and silver(I) catalyzed N-H insertion of aniline with diazoalkanes are also investigated in this thesis, which propose complementary aspects. Finally, gold(I) catalyzed sigmatropic rearrangement reactions and photochemical rearrangements are studied, which give access to highly functionalized sulfur, selenium and nitrogen containing molecules.
