In the present work, the concept of mechanochemistry was used to prepare nitrogen-containing heterocycles and non-covalent halogen-bonded complexes. In the first part of this dissertation, a van Leusen pyrrole synthesis was developed under ball milling conditions. The second part involves the development of an electromechanical atom transfer radical cyclization (ATRC) reaction using piezoelectric minerals. Under ball milling conditions, taking advantage of the piezoelectric effect, an inactive copper(II) complex was successfully converted to the catalytically active copper(I) form enabling the ATRC reactions. In the last part of this thesis, bi- and trimolecular non-covalent halogen-bonded complexes based on N-iodosaccharine and 4-substituted pyridines were prepared under mechanochemical conditions. These could be successfully used as electrophilic iodination reagents.
