New strategies to achieve selective cross-dehydrogenative couplings (CDCs)

Abstract

In this thesis, we have developed several high selective CDCs with different strategies. The first one is by using a Cu(II) catalyst, we developed an ortho-selective aminomethylation of phenols. In this reaction, an arguably broad variety of functional groups were moreover tolerated. This also represents a rare case of C(sp2)-C(sp3) CDC with phenols. The second one is that we achieved a selective arylation of quinones starting from fluorophenols with a hypervalent iodine regent. Besides, we discovered a selective esterification reaction with electricity as the oxidant while we were exploring selective CDC by electrochemistry. It is a concise, mild and green electron-oxidative protocol to construct aromatic esters from methylarenes and alcohols.
