Preliminary Course Chemistry

We recommend all first-year students to attend the preliminary course in chemistry, because here you not only have the opportunity to get to know your new fellow students, but also to get an initial assessment of your personal level of knowledge. In addition, you will get a first feeling for how events at a university are run.

The aim of the preliminary course in chemistry is to provide a common basis for the beginner lectures as well as to repeat and supplement basic knowledge in chemistry, mathematics and physics (as far as necessary for the understanding of chemistry).

This year, the preliminary course in chemistry will be offered from 13.09.2021 to 01.10.2021.

Preliminary Course Mathematics

The preliminary course in mathematics offers you solid preparation for the mathematical course content in the chemistry degree programme and is therefore recommended to all first-year students at RWTH Aachen University. Mathematics is an indispensable tool, especially in engineering and natural science courses. We especially recommend that you take part in the preliminary course in mathematics in these cases. Further information can be found on the preliminary course page of the Institute of Mathematics.
